In the future....

Apparently in the future women will have boobs on the front and back of their torsos. This is the Spider-Girl Minimate that I got yesterday. and the front tampo is also on the back. Which sucks. I will try to have more pictures of waves 29 and 30 later.

That was fast.

Lastnight I posted that Doc Ock needed a redo with better tentacles and today this picture of a new boxset pops up over at marvelousnews.com. I like these, even the BD Spidey. That Vulture can only mean that Falcon can't be far behind. Wouldn't a Captain America boxset be nice with. Falcon, Winter Soldier, Cap, and Crossbones? Ah to dream.

Minimates in need of a redo 2

After the Fantastic Four I think the following are in much need for a second try.

Elektra. Sure maybe a block figure is not the ideal medium for a veluptuous ninja with a costume made of flowing fabric but come on the first one looks very plain when Elektra is anything but.

Dr. Octopus. Sure he isn't as big a part of the spiderman books as he once was but he is one of the big Spider-man foes. Let's see if we can't get some articulation on the tenticals this time too.

Staying in the realm of the big boned. Kingpin. He's back in Hells Kitchen and should be back on shelves with a much better chest piece this time.

Nightcrawler. Put him in a different costume if you have to but he needs another go. Many new collectors have a slim chance of obtaining this fan favorite character because of the high price the boxset is getting on eBay.

Professor X. Two words. Hover. Chair.

616 Nick Fury. Or just a 616 Shield Agent army builder would suffice.

Minimates in need of an update. Vol.1

Marvels first family The Fantastic Four. I know that there have already been Minimates of the Fantastic Four but it was many many waves ago. We have had approximately 15 Wolverines and 251 Spider-Man variants since then. The older F4 are fine but they do not look as great as a lot of the newer Minimates. They could be a wave unto themselves.

Pack 1
Reed Richards and in the place of a different character he could come with a plethora of accessories so that you can see how Fantastic he can be.

Pack 2 and 3
The Storms. Johnny in his Fantastic Four uniform packed with a translucent Sue, and Sue in her uniform with a Translucent Johnny complete with a new flame base.

Pack 4
The Thing. It would give DST a use for that Ben Grimm design that they made for the Secret Wars poll and it would give us an awesome new Thing with some great new sculpted details.

Wolverine Origins series 2

Yesterday marked the DVD/Bluray release of Wolverine:Origins a week or so ago the second series of Minimates hit shelves at Toys R Us. i say second series but it's more like Series 1.5 as there are only 2 new 2 packs Battle Damaged Logan / Gambit and World War 2 Logan and (ugh) Final Battle Deadpool.

First up is Battle Damaged Logan which is remakablely the first Wolverine figure to feature battle damage. This is odd because I don't think that there is one character in comics who takes more battle damage then Wolverine. There is nothing special about this figure. It's Logan in jeans, and a wife beater that is torn in places.





The figure included with the lackluster Wolverine is the movie version of Gambit. This is another plain clothes Minimate but he does include a new coat that has a flourish at the bottom that does fit the character. The gold staff that he is seen in the picture holding is included but it's his only accessory.




Here is a side by side with the comic version of Gambit that was recently released. I have never really cared for Gambit and I don't really understand why people are so high on him.


The 2 alternate hands picture with the movie gambit below came with the comic Gambit. To be honest I am not sure why it was not included in this one as well.




These are pictures of the World War 2 Logan figure. Strangely enough there is a comic version of this figure in Wave 29. The movie version appears to be almost identical to the comic one with the exception of uniform color, helmet, and head. There is a lot of sculpted detail on the chest piece and underneath is a simple BDU shirt.

This what is underneath the hair piece presumably so that while he has the helmet on Logan does not appear bald.




You can see from the picture that there is a grid tampo on the helmet.


The last of the new figures in "Wave 2" is Final Battle Deadpool. Of all of the crimes perpetrated, and there are many, Deadpool is the worst. In the first part of the movie they had it kind of right Ryan Reynolds was perfect casting as Wade Wilson, he has great comedic timing as well as the physicality to look convincing doing the action. So with all this going for them in the first act what does Fox do? They take the mouth from the "Merc With a Mouth". UGH. Anyway here is that abomination in Minimate form.









Here is the other Deadpool from series 1.


Here is the bladed hand that came with him. All that they did was shave 2 of the 3 claws off of a Wolverine hand. LAME.


And just to make sure that there is no debate on how bad Fox screwed the pooch here are the 3 Deadpool figures in a line-up. 1 is an okay figure. 1 is an idea abortion. and 1 is glorious. You make the call.


So there they are. I must say that I was pleasantly surprised with the World War 2 Logan and I kind of like the Gambit. The other 2 are about as good as the movie, which is not high praise. Feel free to comment below with and thoughts, questions, or picture requests.
